This being cybersecurity awareness month, I thought I'd take a very current example and help bring up awareness. Besides, I needed a break from the very depressing situation in Israel.

Today, I got two somewhat similar connection requests. Both are from rather attractive women with whom I have zero shared contacts.

The connection message

So, while I am quite a looker myself, it is not surprising that attractive people want to connect. That said - it is very surprising for me to have zero share contacts with this person.

Already suspecting a scam - I decided to check out the profile before responding:

Mia Wagner's LinkedIn page, full of red flags

The profile has several red flags. Almost no engagement, one experience at a generic company, and a master's degree from a university in Shanghai...

And while I was ready to stop there and just block this scammer - I want to share another final tip.

I clicked on the small circular image to expand it:

Right-click and do an image search with google...

The first page that came up was from scamsurvivors.com:

scamsurvivors.com. I'm crushed; she's not really trying to connect.

With that, I reported this profile to LinkedIn, I hope the scammer behind this profile does not get to scam others.
